Hi Kenji

Actually once the server is up the easiest thing I found was to bundle it as an image (RightScale www.rightscale.com) has a free site that helps with that.

Thought it is important to note that you will probably want to change the machine name in /etc/hosts to something like ora11g.mydomain.com and thus rename the

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1

/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee

directories that reference the name of our Amazon server.

Hope that helps :)

Hi,
Do you know how to reuse the database files on EBS with a different instance? I think I need to say "n" at prompt "Would you like to create a database now [y|n]: ", mount the EBS device, set up some environment variables, and invoke "dbstart", but can't figure out the exact steps.

Thanks,
